If you are a Denver native, there maybe surprising changes coming your way. The downtown Denver officials call these new restorations “ The Downtown Denver Project.” All of the restorations are around the well-known 16th Street Mall; the project has remained in between 14th and 20th streets. Although some of the individual projects have not been fully decided on, some are expected to be finished by the middle to late 2016.

There is an estimated amount of $800 million being put into all of the projects by both individual companies and the city, but that number is expected to rise. The individual projects include adding hotels, private residences, a second Tabor Center tower, and improvements to remaining buildings and parks. Some of the improvements have not been approved by city officials but most are in the construction process.

The project was originally meant to be done by Dec. 2015, but more plans were added and not all had been approved, making it where construction is not planned to be finished until 2018.

Much of this project is unknown by residents; however one of the largest known projects is the new hotel being built near 16th Street Mall. It is planned to be a 165- room hotel operated by Starwood Hotel and Resorts Worldwide, Inc. Another one of the larger projects is the hotel and office building by Union Station. The hotel is planned to be a 12-story building, and the office building is expected to be a 3-story building attached to the hotel.

After the construction is done, downtown Denver will be largely invested in. The change is on the way for Denver.
