February is always accompanied by season of love or loneliness, but to ensure that you have a good Valentines Day either way follow these simple tips.

It’s that time of year and we all know what’s coming. No not the return of The Walking Dead but instead Valentine’s Day, and it is the perfect time for red frilly cards and big boxes of broken promises.
Valentine’s Day for some singles is always a time to reflect on your life and realize how you are better off without someone, but for others it’s a time to weep into a tub of Ben and Jerry’s and try to figure out why no one will date you.

If you are the independent and free-spirited type, treat yourself to a nice dinner or buy yourself something new. For those of you who mope around all day try to go out with some friends and be social, nothing screams “I’m depressed and lonely” like sweatpants and runny makeup. Go out and see a movie and surround yourself with other single people. Caution: avoid lovey-dovey couples because they will only bring you down.

Valentine’s Day is also a time for one to show their dearest love how much they mean to each other. This is the perfect day for all of those cliches that you have wanted to do to come true!

For the guys, get your girl something pink, pretty and chocolatey. You’ll never go wrong with flowers or sweet aromas for your girl.

For the girls your guy may want something crafty, sporty and edible. It’s never a bad idea to stuff his face. After all the one true way to a guy’s heart is through his stomach.

If you are a new couple, stick to the simple date night things. Go out to or make dinner, go see a movie or go on romantic stroll through the park. Some of the things you should avoid are: proposing marriage, insulting their family and going to a couple’s dancing class.

For the post-honeymoon couples, go do something unexpected and sweet. You have been with this person, so show them the little things you love about them. Make up a scavenger hunt of their favorite places through clever hints. Give them that foot rub they are always whining about, even if their feet stink.

Whether you’re single, taken or happily on your own, a good tip for Valentine’s Day is to just relax and do something you enjoy. But remember don’t over-do it and try not to make everyone else’s day worse.
