Spring has sprung, and we’re ready to hear the crack of the ball as the Farmers hit a home-run this upcoming season. Baseball athletes are now headed for their outdoor practices, committing to hard work and dedication.

The Wheat Ridge baseball team is ready to set off and begin a great season. The athletes have already started their season with camp and tryouts. For experienced players, this entails getting back in shape and mastering their technique, while starter players will have to learn all the methods.

“Camp went well. There are a lot of upcoming players, and our returning team is looking very well,” said senior Lane Wagoner. “Players were being taught all aspects of the game (at camp).”  Regardless of one’s experience level, spring will involve hard work, dedication and many hours on the field.

Coach Adam Miller is very proud of his upcoming team. He talked about how the team is getting ready and working to try and reach their full potential. “Maintaining the winning team here at WRHS is one goal I always keep in mind,” said Miller. “Hard practices designate easy games.”

Sophomore Chase Powell said, “My baseball goal this year is to pitch our way to a state championship.” If all of these players keep up their motivation and anticipation, there is no doubt that they will exceed the goals and expectations they have set for themselves.

To help with this season, the varsity team is currently selling Rockies tickets and pancake breakfast tickets to raise money for their game they play at Coors Field on March 18 at 12p.m. against Monarch. For anyone who is interested in going to support the Farmer athletes, it will be free admission. These Farmers are looking forward to having more support from Wheat Ridge and hope to fill the stands at every game this year.

Good luck to all the baseball players here at WRHS and keep up the promising attitude!
