Wheat Ridge Baseball Goes on Strong

By Aaron Ilia Merritt

The Wheat Ridge Farmers Varsity baseball team is hot fire this year!

With a record of 10-4 they are a force to be reckoned with. The pitching is on point, and the fielding is just as amazing. The only thing that seems to need much improving is the batting. Varsity Coach Adam Miller and Varsity Third Basemen Sylas Anderson both stated that Hitting is something that needs to be improved for success in the playoffs.

Even though hitting is not their strong suit, Sylas Anderson hit a three run homer in the game against Littleton High School on April 27. The Farmers broke out on a hit parade in the late innings of the game beating Littleton 12-6.

Anderson’s hit came in a time of need which shows that he is one of the leaders. Anderson humbly said, “We look to our whole team for leadership, but some of the guys who stand out are Jack Marvel, and Travis Cowan.”

Coach Miller was asked the same question and the first leader he brought up was Sylas Anderson.

The playoffs seem like a definite future for the team. To go far in the playoffs the team must work together, after all baseball is a team sport.

“We have a good group of boys this year. Team chemistry is strong,” said Miller.

Good chemistry is key to success in not just sports, but also at work, or group projects at school. The Farmers’ great ability to work together has helped carry the team to where they are now.

The playoffs are coming up so be sure to get out and support our boys!
