In case you slept through TCAP Prep week or completely forgot what is going down in the next week, this will help fill you in.
TCAP begins Tuesday, March 4 with math session 1, math session 2 and writing session 1. TCAP will proceed on Wednesday, with math session 3, writing session 2 and reading session 3. The last portion of TCAP will be completed on Tuesday, March 11with reading session 4, writing session 5 and reading session 6.
The schedule for these testing days is as follows:
- Freshmen have time for breakfast from 8:30-9:15.
- Check in rooms from 9:20-9:35
- Test #1 is from 9:40-10:45
- Lunch is from 10:45-11:30
- Return to classrooms at 11:30-11:35
- Test #2 is from 11:45-12:50
- Test #3 is from 1:00-2:05
Students will be dismissed from school at 2:05.
- Sophomores have time for breakfast from 8:30-9:15.
- Check in rooms from 9:20-9:35
- Test #1 is from 9:40-10:45
- Test #2 is from 10:55-12:00
- Lunch is from 12:00-12:45
- Return to classrooms from 12:45-12:50
- Test #3 is from 1:00-2:05
Students will be dismissed at 2:05.
Students must consider that some versions of calculators are not permitted. These devices are as follows: pocket organizers, handheld or laptop computers, electronic writing pads or pen-input devices, calculators accessible from cellphones or any other communication device, models with a QWERTY keypad or models with built-in capability to simplify algebraic expressions, multiply or factor polynomials.
Juniors will be attending mandatory ACT Prep Strategies classes on Tuesday and Wednesday, March 4 and 5. Room assignments can be found in the math hall, main lobby and annex stair well. The practice ACT will take place on Tuesday, March 11, and is expected to take approximately 3 hours and 15 minutes.
All students are encouraged to get a good night’s sleep, especially on testing days. Feel free to bring a healthy snack for when students are allowed to eat in between testing sessions. A reminder is that cellphones are prohibited from entering the classroom and must remain turned off and in students’ lockers.
