Top twenty senior Michael Yeatts has spent the majority of his high-school career as a writer and editor here on the Haystack.
Yeatts finds that the person who has influenced him the most, philosophically speaking, is himself; for he is the one who has influenced himself over the years. This is one of the things that make Yeatts so unique. His philosophical ideas make him look at things differently.
Yeatts is a very philosophically-minded individual. What he finds most unique is his personality, this is true. If Yeatts could leave anything behind to the remaining Farmers it would be the knowledge of how to get what they most desire and how getting it might be a horrible idea.
Even though Yeatts’ philosophical answer to who has influenced him the most was himself his other answer to the question is his grandmother. Others who have influenced him are Haystack adviser Kay Landon /and social studies teacher Polly Furay. Yeatts credits them for teaching him valuable things such has a passion for journalism and the study of human identity which he has a passion for.
Yeatts plans to spend his summer reading and writing and studying subjects he finds intriguing such as philosophy, history, psychology and theology. After the summer ends Yeatts will be attending Red Rocks Community College for his associate’s degree, then he plans to attend a university to obtain a master’s in secondary education and major in philosophy or biology, and hopes to achieve his dream of teaching something that is perplexing and enlightening. As Yeatts moves on to bigger and better things the part of high school he’ll miss most is the marvelous people he has met.
