M3GAN is a sci-fi  thriller that has recently hit the theaters. It follows two characters, Aunt Gemma and Cady. Katie’s parents have recently passed and she has been forced to live with her Aunt Gemma who is a robot creator, that’s where M3GAN comes in. Watch this movie to see the horror of the future.

 M3GAN was released Jan. 6. Director Gerard Johnstone has directed four movies total. This film has received 95% Rotten Tomatoes. The film had a budget of $12 million and has grossed a whopping $100 million in the box office, which makes it the highest grossing movie in 2023 so far. 

I saw M3GAN on Jan. 15, and in my personal opinion it was entertaining but nothing special. For the movie being titled as a scary film I wasn’t scared. It was more focused on the sci-fi portion of the film other than the horror. Yes, there was gore here and there, but the light was more focused on the technology-taking-over-the-world trope. 

Rotten Tomatoes says, “M3GAN is an enjoyable horror-lite romp: knowing, amusing, but not particularly scary.”  Critics and viewers on the Rotten Tomatoes site have raved about this film stating, “ it was an amazing movie, being funny and scary.” 

Overall this was an enjoyable movie, it was entertaining while it also kept me on the edge of my seat at points. The acting was good and so were the set designs. It seemed like a high quality film.  I would recommend this movie for sure!
