I never thought I could be so enthralled and interested in a biographical Lego movie. Piece By Piece is a biographical movie of Pharell Williams’ life with the story told in Lego animation. The movie was released on Oct. 11.
The main cast includes Pharrell Williams, Morgan Neville, Kendrick Lamar, Gwen Stefani, Timbaland, Snoop Dogg, Justin Timberlake, Jay-Z, N.O.R.E, Daft Punk, Busta Rhymes, Pusha T, and Aaron Wickenden. The movie is directed by Morgan Neville.
The movie itself is telling Pharrell’s story while showing how much success had an effect on him. The movie of course includes all of the songs he helped produce and write such as Drop it Like it’s Hot, and Alright. The movie shows Pharrell’s thoughts on his life and everything that happened through it.
About Pharrell Williams:
Pharrell Williams was born in the U.S. at the Virginia Beach housing project in Virginia Beach, Virginia on April 5, 1973. His parents are Pharoah and Caroline Randall Williams.
He is a music artist and an actor. He got married to his wife (Helen Lasichanh) at the age of 40 on October 12, 2013. They have had four kids together so far with three of them being tripletts.
He was very interested in water throughout his childhood which caused him and Chad Hugo to name their band The Neptunes. In the movie you can see how much his life was affected by his Grandma, who led him on his path and helped him push through obstacles by himself. You can see how much he cares especially when he gets a call that his Grandma is on her deathbed; he is in a rush to get over and you can see how sad he is.
His story was told amazingly through Legos. You could feel the movie letting you understand his life more thoroughly because you can see how he grew up and what happened to him and his music career and all of it. I would strongly recommend this movie to people who enjoy Lego and/or enjoy music. It is a very interesting movie in both aspects with his music career being shown a lot of course and you get to see what famous songs he helped create.
“Most of the time, I see what I see, I search my feelings, and then I make my decisions based on my gut and I don’t always make the right ones.” – Pharrell Williams
