The biggest game of the year, and Wheat Ridge has prep-ed all week. Coming into the game, the team has shown excitement towards bringing home a “W” for Homecoming, and that’s exactly what happened, with the farmers coming out on top of Centaurus 55 to 21. At no point during the game did it seem like a close game. Kicking off the game with a touchdown, immediately after Centaurus fumbled for us to recover resulting in another touchdown. All in the first two minutes.

Both teams fought hard, but it was clear this was our game. The rest of the first half was field day for a Farmer running backs racking up 48 points by the half. Defense picked up the slack as well and kept Centaurus to one touchdown in the first two quarters.

There were times where it felt like every play was scoring points. Both teams ran up many yards sprinting for almost every touchdown. A lot of the glory falls on Senior Anthony and Sophomore Rocco Tate, getting a combined 102 yards between them.

During halftime, Wheat Ridge color guard and the band performed, keeping the energy high. Senior Homecoming Royalty was also announced midfield, Homecoming Queen Bella Briganti and King Armani Pacheco.

During the second half, Centaurus started fighting back, scoring a single touchdown in each quarter. Three players were chosen to be the Player of the Game: Nick Von Feldt (junior), PJ Dewitz (senior), and Rocco Tate (sophomore). This game brings the Farmer’s record to three wins and two losses, with our last game at Liberty, and our next one at Jeffco Stadium, Friday, October fifth at 4:00.
