The well known rapper Lil Wayne has finally released his new album after a whole decade.

Released on Sept. 8, features artists Xxxtentacion, Travis Scott, Nicki Minaj, Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Dogg, Ashanti, Mack Maine, and Nivea. It is the number one album on the U.S Billboard 200, U.S Top R&B Hip Hop Albums and number one on the Canadian Billboard albums. It’s his fourth number one album. Finally after numerous attempts on dropping, the album talks about, his attempted suicide at age 12 and much more.

The intro of his album starts with “I Love You Dwayne” which is his mother explaining how proud she is of him and how excited she is for his album to come out:
“Mama love you
I love you Dwayne, with all my heart
You’s my life
I live for you”

After the intro in the Carter V, it leads to song with Xxxtentacion. “Don’t Cry” is the sixth release by X after his tragic passing on June 18. The song talks about fame, death, and how has he stayed strong with the help of god.
“But if heaven’s as good as advertised
I want a triple extension on my mother*****n’ afterlife
Rest in paradise”
As he refers to X’s death, this song is my personal favorite on the album because I adore X and feel like it’s such a meaningful song.

The next song on the album is Dedicate featuring 2 Chainz. Wayne has been through a lot in his career. As he speaks of his former boss who was also a father figure Birdman, and how he did him dirty. Birdman had messed up his career and was holding Wayne back from his full potential by not fully paying him for his music and not letting him release The Carter V. He sued Birdman in 2015 for $51 million.
“Two middle fingers that’s up high to whom
It may consume, kaboom, goddamn
Who knew that I am the guru with voodoo
That sued you to high hell”
That whole verse is referred to Birdman, and the song continues about how he is doing better and his success.

“Let it Fly” featuring Travis Scott is another hype song. “It’s alive, it’s alive, I’m revived, it’s C5”
It’s been years since Wayne has dropped anything so he’s referring to his comeback when he says “I’m revived.” The rest of the song continues to talk about his return.
In his interview after the album dropped with CRWN with Bet Network, Wayne said, “Timeless, that was the thing, the music is almost seven years old, timeless lyrics.” He mentions why this album was so special to him, the time, the pain, and, especially, the artists. The artists on the album stuck it out with him, anyone who had anything to do with the album holds a big significance to his life.
