Rapper, songwriter, record producer, and fashion designer, Kanye West, who legally goes by Ye, has recently made multiple controversial comments leading to the loss of his billionaire status. He has lost $2 billion due to being dropped by many of his business partnerships.

Ye has made multiple antisemitic comments that have led to these losses. He made a Twitter post claiming, “I’m going death con 3 on JEWISH PEOPLE,” (misspelling DEFCON) with the justification, “The funny thing is I can’t be Anti-Semitic because black people are actually a Jew.” According to Forbes, Twitter locked Ye out of his account shortly after this tweet. Ye also wore a “White Lives Matter” shirt at his Yeezy fashion show and claimed that he had a “gut feeling” to wear the shirt and thought it was funny.

His antisemitic claims have led to many fallouts in his business career and the loss of $2 billion. This includes all Yeezy products getting removed from Goodwills, and Madame Tussauds removing a wax figure that was previously in their London location.

TJ Maxx claimed they will no longer be purchasing Yeezy merchandise for their stores, Foot Locker removed all Yeezy-branded footwear from sales floors, and Adidas released a statement declaring, “Adidas does not tolerate antisemitism and any other sort of hate speech…After a thorough review, the company has taken the decision to terminate the partnership with Ye immediately, end production of Yeezy branded products, and stop all payments to Ye and his companies. Adidas will stop the Adidas Yeezy business with immediate effect.”

Balenciaga stated that they will no longer have any relation or plans for future projects with Ye, Vogue will no longer be working with the rapper, and Ye’s agency, the CAA, cut ties with him.

Ye went on the podcast Drink Champs and started questioning the death of George Floyd, saying it was due to a Fentanyl overdose and not police brutality. According to the Los Angeles Times, George Floyd’s family is taking legal action against Ye by suing him for $250 million for “harassment, misappropriation, defamation” and “infliction of emotional distress.”

The multitude of Ye’s actions has created drama throughout the media, and he has lost many of his fans. He is also losing the respect of his business partners which has and will lead to him losing money.
